By now the plan of actions on purification of rivers, lakes and springs of the city has been elaborated, the inventory of household and rain water discharges into water objects was realized, and the electronic map on discharges into water subjects is under the construction. More than 2 million rubles was directed to the purification and improvement of the river Lesnaya. The working groups of the administration of the Leningrad and Central city districts investigated the water discharges of the basin of the lake Verkhnee. The Institute “Zapvodproject” in accordance with the municipal contract elaborated a working project “Reconstruction of the networks of the flows of the water rain sewerage in the basin of the lake Verkhnee and recommendations on liquidation of household discharges in it within Kaliningrad.
For purification of rain and drainage water it is planned to build five water treatment plants, cost 75 million rubles, on 22 city discharges of drainage and rain water sewerage.
According to the words of the Head of the administration Felix Lapin, working on the improvement of the ecological state of the basin,”Verkhnee is not a temperate action, but systematic work.” The main target is to prevent the secondary pollution of Verkhnee Lake after realized work and turn its shores into an ecologically clean and comfortable recreation zone. The final aim of the started far-reaching work is the reconstruction of the united hydrotechnic system of Kaliningrad, and technically correct water discharge and improvement of the hydrological situation on the territory of the whole city, that in its turn will lead to improvement of the ecological state of the basin of the Baltic Sea.
