Local Responsibility produced Results

Guldager

Detailed description of the Good Practice

In Guldager it is emitted 1 ton of CO2 each inhabitant less than the average Dane. Actually, it is not a particularly green human race, who lives in the suburb of Esbjerg. The particular is, however, that the local civic association has entered into partnership with Esbjerg Kommune. The purpose of the partnership was to find methods and change behaviour to reduce the annual CO2 emissions by 1 ton each inhabitant.
The commune has helped the citizens to measure the emissions of CO2 from the household’s consumption of electricity, heat, and transport and gave good advice. But otherwise, the local initiatives primarily have created the results.
The results of the partnership between Esbjerg Kommune and Guldager are impressive. The reduction is significant and is shared among both consumption of heat, electricity, and transport.
