Electric carpool

Detailed description of the Good Practice

The advantages with electric car-pooling are many, it is economical, you just pay the fee for the hire of the car and driving an electric car you have lots of free parking places in Malmö. You can also drive in lanes normally restricted for public transport and you don’t have to pay for service and repairs.

To have a car of your own is expensive today, you have to pay for petrol, insurance, service, repairs and many more things. It’s cheaper to be a member of an electric carpool plus you are also doing something for the environment.
The carpool has about 20 members at present (2001). They got a lot of help from the Ecocity of Augustenborg, the local supermarket (Konsum), the municipality of Malmö and from ‘Electric cars in Scania’.

The electric carpool in Augustenborg was the first electric carpool in Malmö and in Sweden.

More Details of the Good Practice

You can book it for as long as you want, as long as you pay a small fee. Just apply for membership, pay a stake of 50 SEK and a one off fee of 250 SEK. When you go to your local supermarket (Konsum) to collect and return the car you use a magnetic card at the start and finish of the hire period. Every month you receive a bill saying how many hours you have used the car.
