Detailed description of the Good Practice
Helsinki Metropolitan Area Recycling Centre (Pääkaupunkiseudun kierrätyskeskus Oy) is a non-profit organization, the purpose of which is to improve people’s living conditions by reducing the amount of waste and raising environmental awareness.
The Centre offers several kinds of services, for example:
- reception and picking up (and also selling) of clean, usable goods e.g. furniture
- reception of broken electrical appliances
- offering environmental consultation/ education to children, educators, individuals and organizations
- “crafts bourse”
- Plan B – trademark of clothes / wares that are made of recycled materials

All the citizens.
Funding of the Good Practice
At least part of the resources is received by selling recycled products.
